What will I learn?
Dalhousie鈥檚 Environmental Science program encourages you to explore the environment from scientific perspectives; as well as the political, cultural, ethical, and historical angles. You can make it your main focus of study or combine it with other programs.
First year students will start by taking foundation courses to fulfill core requirements. You鈥檒l start by learning the fundamentals of environmental science and explore topics such as current environmental challenges, the ecosphere, resources and sustainability. Students can explore their personal interests through electives. You鈥檒l get outside the classroom and gain hands-on experience conducting field studies in nearby forests, marshes, rivers and city parks. Students will also have the opportunity to complete work terms through the听co-op education program.

Careers and future study
The state of the environment affects us all and is an increasingly important area of concern. Understanding environmental issues will benefit anyone planning a career in science, business, government, law, journalism, and many other fields.听

Future study possibilities are abundant and diverse and may include graduate level programs such as a Master of Science (MSc), Master of Arts (MA), Master of Architecture (MArch), Master of Planning (MPlan) or Master of Resource and Environmental Management (MREM). You may also choose to go on and complete a PhD. You鈥檒l also have the foundation to pursue further studies in professional programs such as medicine or law.
